Materials

For this glowing Halloween night light, you will need:

  • A clean glass (e.g. a Mason jar)
  • A string of lights or a battery-operated lamp
  • Paint for glass (preferably acrylic paint in orange)
  • Black sturdy cardboard
  • A pencil
  • A ruler
  • A pair of scissors
  • Glue
  • Black paint for possible embellishments

All of these materials can be easily found in any supermarket in the arts and crafts section or you may already have some of them at home. Since this is a children's project, we have deliberately avoided complicated materials. Crafting Halloween decorations should be fun, not stressful!

Step 1: Prepare a glass, paint, a sponge, and a brush. You should know that there are different types of paint. You need one that can be applied to glass. Paint the glass. Use a brush for this.

Step 2: Next, take black paper. Cut out a graveyard silhouette from the paper. Note that the paper must be thick enough so that it does not shine through later from the light rays inside the glass. Glue the cut-out silhouette to the glass.

Step 3: Take black paint and paint the top and bottom edge of the glass. I used a sponge instead of a brush for this. Now here comes the most interesting part: Place a string of lights or another light source inside the glass.

Step 4: Look how great it turned out. This is my favorite crafting project from the Halloween category.
