Step 1: Cut out many circles from napkins, paint them with watercolors, if you like, then take a small glass and place the napkin circles one after the other on it, creating a rose blossom, stick each layer with some glue - the more layers you use, the fuller and more beautiful the rose will be.

Step 2: Cut leaves out of green cardboard that look like rose petals.

Step 3: Cut several strips out of cardboard and glue them together to make a small garden fence - just like in the countryside, then paint the fence so that the cardboard is no longer visible, then glue your roses and leaves onto the fence so that it looks as if they are growing through the gaps - looks great, doesn't it?

Crafting as a creative form of expression for primary school children

Crafting three-dimensional projects like our rose fence offers primary school children valuable development opportunities that go far beyond pure enjoyment.

By cutting the cardboard fence slats and carefully shaping the paper roses, children train their fine motor skills and spatial thinking. They learn how three-dimensional objects can be created from flat materials through skillful folding, cutting and assembling - an important step in cognitive development.

The creative process is also particularly valuable: children can decide how they want to paint their fence, which colors they want to use for the roses and how they want to arrange everything. This freedom of choice promotes independence and self-confidence. When children see that the artwork they have created brings joy to others, it boosts their self-esteem enormously.

The project combines different materials and techniques, which promotes sensory perception. The different textures of cardboard, napkins and paper offer tactile experiences, while mixing colors trains visual perception.

Last but not least, making a gift for mom or grandma conveys important social values such as caring, gratitude and the joy of giving - qualities that are particularly valuable in our often materialistic world.
