After you have downloaded a single content with a Photoshop action and unpacked the ZIP file, you must import the Photoshop action and any other enclosed components into Photoshop.

Importing actions into Photoshop

The easiest way: Open Photoshop. Double-click on the ATN file. You have already imported the action (usually). Alternatively, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the control panel for actions via Window>Actions.
  2. Open the dialog menu in the top right corner of the window, where you will find the Load actions... function.
  3. Select the action (ATN) you want to import on your computer and click on Load.
  4. The action is now in the list of your available actions.

Further notes on importing:

  • Some download files contain several ATN files that are designed for different Photoshop actions. Please note which version you are using and import the corresponding file.
  • It is also possible that there are several Photoshop actions in one ATN file. If you load such a file, several actions will be available in your list of actions.

Install additional components for an action

To execute actions that you download from TutKit.com, you will often receive additional components. In order for a Photoshop action to run successfully, it is necessary to import these components into Photoshop before performing the action.

Typical components that are included with the actions are brushes (in ABR format) and patterns (in PAT format). Double-click on these files to import them into Photoshop.

Alternatively, you can also use the corresponding windows and dialog menus. To import brushes, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the control panel for brushes via Window>Brushes.
  2. Open the dialog menu in the top right-hand corner of the window, where you will find the Import brushes... function.
  3. Select the brush file (ABR) you want to import on your computer and click on Load.

To import patterns, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the control panel for patterns via Window>Patterns.
  2. Open the dialog menu in the top right-hand corner of the window, where you will find the Import pattern... function.
  3. Select the pattern file (PAT) you want to import on your computer and click on Load.

In addition, Photoshop actions sometimes come with images or illustrations in PNG or JPG format. You will often be prompted to insert enclosed images during the process of such actions.
