Duplex triplex image action

This action creates a duplex or triplex image from your photos. What is a duplex triplex image?

Duplex images are used to increase the tonal value of a grayscale image. Although a grayscale reproduction can contain up to 256 shades of gray, it is only possible to produce about 50 shades of gray per image with a printing press. As a result, a grayscale image printed with only black ink can appear much coarser than if the same image is printed with two, three or four inks, each of which can reproduce up to 50 shades of gray.

To achieve a good effect, you should choose a suitable photo. Preferably a shot from above.

This action highlights areas in the photo. You can freely set the size, shape and placement. Two shapes are predefined in the action: "Round" and "Square". You can also transform ovals from the round shapes as required. There are 3 predefined selections; if you only want to highlight one or two areas, simply hide the layers you don't need once the action is complete. You have the option of softening the background or setting it to black and white. The process is described in the action. You can also combine softening and B/W. You can also create great effects by overlapping the selections. When overlapping, you can copy the selection layers again in the finished layers and delete the layer style, reduce the layers without layer style except for the background to one layer, then copy the layer style from one of the selection layers and paste it into the reduced layer. It's a bit crazy, but you'll get the hang of it. Don't forget to hide the selection layers. Have fun with the action.

I was inspired by Stanlay72's "Floating free frame" tutorial to create an action for it to make it a bit easier for beginners. I think Stanlay72's tutorial is super ingenious. At this point, a big compliment to Stanlay72. Please take a look at the description of what the floating free frame is all about. (You can move the frame, the effect remains the same).

If you don't like the frame width and the drop shadow, you can change the layer style by double-clicking on the small image on layer 1 and readjusting the drop shadow and contour in the dialog. Then copy this layer style with the right mouse button and paste it into the other layers. To do this, select the layers with the small photos in the layer palette and right-click on Paste; the layer style is then copied to all selected layers with just one paste. The action has been tested and runs without errors. Created for CS2 and CS3. There are two *.ATN files in the action, one for CS2 and one for CS3 (which also works for CS4 and higher).
