Normally, your projects should be free of any interference - but in some cases, it's this interference that creates the right atmosphere. The Damage plug-in from Digieffects was designed to do just that! Whether it's interference, distortion, artefacts, channel offsets, destabilization or the look of an old film reel - with the add-on program for After Effects you can inflict controlled damage on your scenes. Motion designer Peter Leopold shows you how it works effect by effect in this video training.
After an introduction to the basic operation of the plug-in in the video tutorial, your trainer will take you through the individual faults: With "Artifact" you create rectangular artefacts, with "Blockade" you generate transparent interference, which you then make visible, and with "Destabilize" you can split the colour channels into red, green and blue in order to move them afterwards. Continue with "Interference", which adds striped patterns or noise to your images, "Overexpose", which creates overexposures, and finally "Skew", which creates unique distortions that are reminiscent of an antenna signal that is too weak.
Your After Effects projects are now damaged! And this is by no means random, but intentional and you can place it in a targeted manner with Damage. Once you have familiarized yourself with all the possibilities of the plug-in, you can apply your acquired knowledge directly in a final tutorial. Use the concentrated disruptive power of Damage and create atmospheric effects in the included work materials.
As a bonus, you will receive an introductory eleven-minute video on the use of plug-ins in After Effects. Here you will learn in detail how to install third-party plug-ins to enhance the Adobe program with powerful functions. Note: The training has been optimized for After Effects CC.
