InDesign updates: What's new in the Creative Cloud

In version 18 there were a few nice new functions that have been available for over 2 years. Among other things, I will show you

• Style packs (as a technology preview for the English installation of InDesign only)
• Efficient copy and paste between Illustrator and InDesign
• New graphic formats supported in InDesign
• Easy duplication of pages or print sheets after selection
• UXP scripting
• Preview InDesign documents
• Search for text in published documents

Very little has changed in version 2021 (version 17) of Adobe InDesign. Nevertheless, there are 2 new functions in particular that have it all:

• Using Adobe Capture in InDesign
• Improved resolution with a scalable user interface

I explain this and another feature in detail in this video.

This version (16) included the following new functions, which I show in detail in the video:

• Seamless content reviews with text annotations
• Search for colors in documents
• Intelligent image recognition and text wrapping
• Recognize and restore damaged documents

In this overview, I present new features that have been introduced in the Adobe InDesign CC 15.0 version of the program. These include the following new features:

InDesign CC 2018 brings us some new features and various bug fixes. This video training explains the most important new functions using practical examples and shows you which shortcuts, simplifications and improvements you can look forward to. A list of these can be found below:

• Improvements: Paragraph frames, object formats with fixed positions, font menu, gradients in folders, optimization of PDF accessibility, texts in CC Libraries, better HTML export

Arrowheads can now be scaled at the start or end regardless of the contour thickness. The start and end can also be swapped with just one click.

Selected texts, text frames or individual characters can now be easily provided with various OpenType properties.

The search in Adobe Stocker has been optimized and now also shows similar files. Links can now also be shared from the library.

Fonts from leading providers can be purchased for InDesign projects via the new Typekit Marketplace. The synchronization and web technologies make the Marketplace fonts available on all devices.

Creating and formatting footnotes is child's play. A new feature is the selection via columns within a text frame or across the entire document width.

Setting up a website to present your own work? With the new Adobe Portfolio service, design layouts can be transported to your own landing pages and accessed via the browser.

It is not always necessary to pursue creative activities sitting at a computer in a closed office. Mobile solutions such as Adobe Comp promise and provide new opportunities to quickly turn inspiration into appealing forms, even when on the move. Not just simple scribbles, but even software-compatible designs are the result, which can then be turned into final artwork using the full application. Find out how to do it here. In the video, we will create a draft for an article layout for a magazine as an example and then send it to InDesign CC.

With alternative glyphs, special characters can be displayed with just one click. Texts can also be converted into real fractions. All about the new context menu for glyphs. The glyphs panel now also allows custom searches, in which names, Unicode or GID values can be entered for a specific character.

With the "Publish Online" function, documents can be published and made available on the web - without an additional plug-in. The function supports the embedding of links in websites, sharing via Twitter and e-mail as well as analyses of document views. Updated documents can be published under the same URL.

New features that make everyday use much easier can be found in this video. With a few more intuitive commands, objects (assets) can be easily added to the library. In addition, you can now browse the entire Adobe Stocker portfolio from within the application without having to leave the program. Creative content is also available in the "Community" area of the Creative Cloud app, which allows thousands of presets to be used in design free of charge. Linked objects now synchronize via the cloud service when they are changed in another program. The entire library can also be easily shared with other employees for collaborative work.

With the new color setting tool, entire color palettes can be easily created from selection areas, images or objects in an InDesign document. The color palettes can then be used effortlessly in the layout, added to the swatches panel or saved in the CC libraries.

Access all color palettes in Adobe Color - no matter where they were created. Use themes from other designers, create new compositions yourself and speed up the process of finding RGB and CMYK colors.

In addition to INDD and linked files and fonts, PDF and IDML files can now also be included in an InDesign package. This downward compatibility ensures that documents can also be opened in older versions.

Effects that are placed on objects are automatically scaled together with the respective object or text. This also works with contours, drop shadows, glow inside, etc.

Colour fields can be managed and organized in groups in a similar way to paragraph formats.

Rows and columns can be moved within tables using drag-and-drop.
